Fiber Drums

Fiber drums are used to store and transport dry, solid and semi-liquid products, hot or cold. They are common in food ingredients and powders, adhesives, pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals, and wire and tubing. Mauser fiber drums are UN-approved for packaging groups II and III, so they can be used for hazardous as well as non-hazardous materials.

A fiber drum is made from multi-layer fiberboard rather than plastic or steel, and typically filled with dry, solid, or semi-liquid products. They are significantly lighter weight than steel and plastic drums. Plastic and steel drums are more traditionally used to store and transport liquids. Mauser manufactures all three, so the right choice depends on your application.

Mauser fiber drums range from 6–77 gallons / 11–291 liters in North America, across eight diameters from 14-inch to 23-inch. Cold Flo and Hot Flo types are available in 55–58 gallons at a 22.5-inch diameter. European sizes run from 20–230 liters in 375mm to 560mm diameters.

Mauser offers both applied linings and separate liners. Lining options include polyethylene, foil, anti-static and silicone release coat. Liner options include standard bags, anti-static bags and Hedwin liners. Covers are available in plastic, metal and fiber, with optional poly coating, and locking rings are available electrogalvanized, hot dip galvanized or in plastic.

Yes. Mauser offers liner options that meet FDA requirements for food contact, and Food & Beverage is one of the primary markets these drums serve. Barrier options with a poly or aluminum foil layer are available where a product needs protection from moisture and oxygen transfer.

Yes. Fiber drums are recyclable and made from renewable materials, and they are manufactured using low-energy processes compared with other industrial packaging options. Their lower net weight also reduces shipping weight and the freight emissions that come with it.
