Senior Network Engineer (m/f/d)

 

based in our International Headquarters in Bruehl (Cologne area).

 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery as it relates to the network
  • Design and support VoIP infrastructure and its associated software, including IP-PBXs, call management systems, voice mail, and interactive voice response
  • Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware
  • Maintain network QoS to ensure effective delivery of converged services
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry
  • Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades
  • Collaborate with systems engineers/architects/admins for upgrades to operating systems, hardware, etc
  • Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
  • Monitor and test network performance and capacity, provide network performance statistics and reports, and troubleshoot problem areas as needed
  • Define, develop, track, report and maintain appropriate metrics
  • Define and apply appropriate management routines
  • Participate in managing all network security solutions
  • Act as a point of escalation and provide technical guidance to junior team members
  • Integrate IP telephony systems and other systems with enterprise LANs, WANs, wireless LANs, and other Internet-based services and protocols
  • Manage/ensure backup & recovery for network infrastructure devices/systems
  • Assist with the installation planning and maintenance of network cabling, including MDF and IDF closets
  • Conform to all safety and confidentiality rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Tests and implements software
  • After hours, weekend, and holiday availability necessary
  • Takes major roles in various ITS projects as needed
  • Migrates and integrates acquired companies’ computing environments with existing BWAY environment
  • Travels to remote facilities as required for rollout projects or other needs
  • Performs other related duties as required

 

YOUR IDEAL PROFILE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years related experience
  • Distinct knowledge in Firewalls (CheckPoint, Meraki, Palo Alto, etc), Proxies/Web Content Filtering (Palo Alto, Threat Management Gateway, etc), Routing/Routers (Cisco ISR), Switching/Switches (Cisco Catalyst 2960, 3750, 3850, etc..., Meraki MS switches, Extreme Switch (Summit series, Black Diamond, etc…), Dynamic Routing Protocols (OSPF,HSRP, EIGRP, BGP, etc.), VoIP/Telephony Protocols (PBX, H.323, SIP, SCCP, etc...), Wireless Standards and Technologies
  • Distinct knowledge in Monitoring and Logging (SolarWinds LEM, SYSLOG, PRTG, etc...), Network Services (DNS, DHCP, etc), Windows Server/Desktop OS (All), Web Browsers (IE, Chrome, etc.), Common PC Apps (Office, Adobe, Zip, etc), Remote Control (Bomgar, etc), other Network Technologies
  • Excellent communication skills (English & German) with different stakeholders
  • Team-oriented approach, ability to work under pressure and hands-on mentality
