New facility marks 20th reconditioning facility for Mauser Packaging Solutions in the EMEA region

Mauser Packaging Solutions, a global leader in solutions and services across the packaging life cycle, continues to expand its global collection and reconditioning network with the opening of a new site in Tarsus, Turkey. The new facility is the company’s 20th reconditioning site and strategically located in the southeastern region of Turkey within the first Organized Industrial Zone in Mersin Province. These investments demonstrate Mauser Packaging Solutions’ commitment to contribute to the circular economy and will further support the collection and reuse of reconditioned packaging in the region.

The new reconditioning site utilizes resource-friendly processes in compliance with environmental and safety standards. Once packaging is collected through Recover Syst-M, the company’s global collection program, IBCs and drums are reconditioned for reuse or recycled if they have reached the end of their usable life. The generated plastic will be recycled in-house and used as high-quality recycled resin within company’s Infinity Series product portfolio.

“Mauser Packaging Solutions is proud to be the first professional reconditioning company in the southern region of Turkey,” says Roy Couwenberg, Vice President Operations. “Being located close to the Mersin Port and thereby closer to our Middle East customers, facilitates shorter shipping distances, reduced delivery times, and faster reactions to our customers’ needs.”  Additionally, Gönül Olcay, General Manager Turkey says, “We are proud to support our customers and fulfill their environmental protection and sustainability commitments, as we contribute to the collection and recycling of used packaging under 150110 License Code.”

Reconditioned packaging is available in a variety of specifications for both UN and non-UN applications. Through Recover Syst-M, customers can easily schedule a pickup of empty IBCs and plastic drums from their facility or their customers’. Reconditioning gives packaging a second life, diverting waste from landfills and preserving natural resources.

Future growth plans for the site include the installation of further production lines for  plastic and steel drums. Both lines will produce various products in the company’s drum portfolio for plastic and steel packaging, including the Infinity Series portfolio which contains recycled plastic materials.
